Course Description:
This unit equips learners with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate programmes that promote the welfare and protection of children in various community and institutional settings. It focuses on understanding children’s needs, rights, and developmental stages, as well as identifying vulnerable groups and responding appropriately to child welfare challenges.
Learners will gain practical experience in developing and carrying out child-centred interventions that enhance health, education, social well-being, and protection from abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Emphasis is placed on community participation, inter-agency collaboration, and adherence to national policies and legal frameworks guiding child welfare services.
By the end of the unit, learners will be able to design and implement sustainable child welfare programmes, work effectively with families and communities, and contribute to the overall improvement of child protection systems.
